Looking through some old photos I was reminded of how my boys have always loved to work like daddy. They had a way of always finding the sharpest tool in the toolbox- or carrying around the heaviest hammer they could find!! I remember when my oldest son built his first “birdhouse” all by himself… okay… so it was 6 pine boards nailed flat together… but to him it was a birdhouse. And it brought joy.
I will let them bang the hammer into the dirt. And as they grow, let them pound 15 nails into a board and show me what they “built.” Let them get cuts and bruises from playing with the tools. Because someday I will look them in the face eye to eye and see that they have grown to be men like daddy.
"God that made the world and all things therein,
...seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
And hath made of one blood all nations of men…
That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
For in him we live, and move, and have our being;
...For we are also his offspring." ACTS 17:24-28
An amazing thought to take us through our day…
God is not far from us. If God tells us in Acts 17:27 that should seek Him, and feel for Him, and find Him- then He is always within reach. If you desire a closer relationship with the Lord- then just reach out to Him. He is waiting! He freely gives us His Word, His Spirit, and He hears our prayers. We have more than we could every ask for!
Seek the Lord.
Feel after Him.
He is not far.
As we go through this world of darkness... reach out... His is near...
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
I Thessalonians 2:13
The Bible is clear that to those whom are saved- God’s Word will effectually work in their lives. The Bible should have a great effect in all we do. When we accept Christ- we are trusting in Him as the Truth. These believers in I Thessalonians trusted in the Word of God as it is in truth.
Can we say the same? Are we fully trusting in the Word of God? Is God’s Word having a great effect upon our life? If our answer is no, we have some things to consider. Have we been born again? We must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to be our Saviour. If we have trusted Christ with our eternal salvation- have we trusted Him with our daily living? We must surrender to live our lives in obedience to Him. If God is calling upon us- are we listening? Has the Lord’s still small voice called upon you- to read His Word? to spend time with Him in prayer? to walk with Him in obedience?
It is exciting to see God’s hand working. All we must do is trust in Him. Trust in His Word. We have a promise that if we seek Him- we will find Him. If He is calling you to obedience- then answer Him. Answer Him, “Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth.”
When we listen to His voice- we will see His hand effectually working in our life.
Some things in life are universal. Though we may live in different lands, different cultures, have a different background… there are some things we ALL need. Instead of waiting for someone to come along and fulfill our needs- why don’t we choose to be the one who reaches out and gives.
Every woman needs encouragement. We have an example in Proverbs 31 of a virtuous woman. In her tongue was the law of kindness. A kind and gentle word can soothe so many pains and comfort such a broken heart. We must pray daily for God to sand off those rough edges that sharpen our tongue- and we must choose to speak with kindness.
Every woman needs forgiveness. Let’s face it. We have all opened our mouth and said things we shouldn’t have. The worst thing about saying something hurtful is that it can’t be unsaid. What we can do is give others the same grace that we would hope to get. We can realize that people say stupid things. If you have heard something negative that has been said about you- instead of stewing over it- PRAY over it. Choose to give grace and forgive.
Let us choose to forgive.
Let us choose to speak in kindness.
And let us choose to encourage one another.
